Achieving Gold Status for Eco Friendly Practices at St. John Bosco Catholic School

Posted On Tuesday October 17, 2017

Congratulations St. John Bosco Catholic School for earning Gold status again for their Eco friendly practices.  This is the tenth year in a row that we have earned gold status which is a very high honour and a remarkable achievement.  From our boomerang lunches, waste audits, reduced use of electricity to our refillable water stations, St. John Bosco Catholic School continues to impress with our focus on Eco smart behaviours.

A big thank you goes out to Ms. Olesky for all of her work and dedication to the Eco teams over the years – she has had amazing support from students who also value and are hopeful that we can make changes in our lifestyles to impact and slow down global warming and pollution.

On Wednesday, October 11 at the Pope Francis Center at the Durham Catholic District School Board, the Board hosted an Eco Celebration acknowledging school achievements for the past year.  Some of the Eco team members from last year who worked closely with Ms. Olesky were able to be present to receive our Gold status poster to hang in our school.  The video made by these students retelling the Bosco story of all the Eco work that has transpired over the years was very inspiring!! And a lot of hard work by this team. All it takes is a dream and leaders like Ms. Olesky to make it happen!!
